This Week's News

MISSION TRIP 2008: SMITHERS, WV: Thank you for remembering to lift up in prayer our 22 missionaries who were in Smithers, WV working to rehab homes and restore hope to hundreds of residents. The group returned home from their labor on July 5th. An After-Camp Potluck Celebration is scheduled for this evening, July 13 at 5:00 p.m., where kids and adults alike will share the experience from the week through picture and story. If you’d like to participate in this inaugural After-Camp Potluck Celebration, and are happy to bring a dish, please fill out the insert included in this bulletin, and drop it in the offering plate, or drop it in the After-Camp Potluck Celebration Basket in the Narthex. We can’t wait to tell of our amazing experience in Smithers!
Your 2008 Senior High Missionaries

Who will know about my problem if I talk with a Stephen Minister? This is a question that many people ask. Confidentiality is the cornerstone of Stephen Ministry. No one knows what is talked about in a caring relationship except for the person being cared for and the Stephen Minister. It is confidential. If you have a burden you need to share, perhaps a Stephen Minister can help. Call the church office at 447-8840 or Kathy Brooks at 449-4252.

BACKPACKS are available for purchase for needy Livermore school children. See the table in the narthex. An empty backpack is $15, a filled backpack $35. You may take an empty backpack to fill yourself, or you may contribute towards a filled backpack. Please indicate on your check or the envelope that the donation is for "backpacks." A list of supplies is provided for those who purchase an empty backpack. They should be returned to the church by the first Sunday in August.

BIG BAND DINNER DANCE featuring Bob Olness' Band, Nightlife. Saturday, August 30, 2008. Complimentary Dance Lesson: 6:00 - 6:30 pm. 6:30 pm dinner catered by Strizzi's. Cost: $12 per person. Tickets will be for sale after 9:30 service August 3, 10, 17, and 24. Adults only! Bring a friend!

DEAR PASTOR BOST AND THE HOLY CROSS CONGREGATION,
Thank you so much for your kind words, cards and the lovely altar flowers. It is such a comfort – more than we can ever express – to know we are in your thoughts and prayers.
