Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year! My name is Jenifer Montgomery; and I am very pleased to be the new director at Holy Cross Lutheran School. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part your child’s first school experiences. Together, we can ensure a school environment you and your child will cherish.
The last seven years I held the position of director at a preschool in Pleasanton which is very similar to HCLS. I want to assure you of my commitment, as well as that of Church, staff, and school boards’ dedication to our Christian philosophy, mission, and goals of the school. I believe these ideals emulate the reason behind our long history of serving families in the community.
Each of us plays an integral role in the early childhood program. We encourage open communication through newsletters, telephone calls, conferencing, and of course, direct participation. Please feel free to contact me with questions, concerns, or just to get acquainted.
The purpose of Holy Cross Lutheran School is to relate to each child the Love of God and the presence of Christ in the child's life by providing a warm Christian atmosphere in which to nurture the child's emotional, spiritual, social, mental and physical development.
Our mutual goal is to provide a happy experience for your child in which to learn cooperative living, creative expression and academic achievement in a non-structured setting, and to increase good feelings about himself/herself as a person of worth and a child of God
There are no restrictions of admission on the basis of race, sex, religion, or national origin. Priority is given to Holy Cross Church members, currently enrolled children, and alumni siblings..
Children are grouped according to their age as of September 1st.
A ratio of 1:5 is maintained with 3 year olds and 1:6 with 4's and 5's.

Jennifer Montgomery - Director
Holy Cross Lutheran School is staffed with well qualified, early childhood professionals.
Teachers in the school are experienced Early Childhood Educators. All teachers have at least twelve ECD units. All staff are involved in a continuous program of in-service education and studies for professional advancement, being aware of the ever changing needs of todays families and the findings of current research.
The Board of Directors of HCL School is made up of seven members (three serving at large, three from the church community and a representative to and of the Church Council). The Board of Directors meet monthly to establish policy and recommend an annual budget, tuition and enrollment fees, which is then approved by HCL Church Council. There are two standing committees of the Board of Directors: Financial and Personnel. All parents are eligible to become a part of the Board. Elections for two-year terms are held annually in May.
Holy Cross Lutheran Pre-School follows the National Association for the Education of Young Children guidelines. This assures you of a commitment to provide you and your child with the highest quality and professional early childhood program available.
Calendar
The preschool year conforms with the Livermore public schools, observing the same holidays, except for individual schoolteacher workdays. Holy Cross Lutheran Pre-School closes the last full week of May. The first school day in September will be the first Monday after Labor Day. Teaching staff return September 1st for meetings, home visits, and classroom preparation.

Monthly fees are based on an annual tuition which is divided into nine (pre-school) equal payments. A month’s deposit which will be applied to your last month’s tuition is due no later than May 1, 2007. A refund will be given within receiving a 30 day notice of written withdrawal prior to the first day of school. Payment is due the first day of the month beginning in September and is considered delinquent after the 10th. A late charge of $20.00 will be assessed thereafter.
Delinquent tuition payments of 30 days or more can jeopardize your child’s enrollment.
No credit will be given for absences. If for any reason your child must withdraw from Holy Cross Lutheran School during the school year, we require thirty (30) days written notice, the prepaid tuition will be applied to the last month of enrollment providing that the required 30 day notice is given.
Families receive a 3% reduction in annual tuition for payment in full in September or for two or more children enrolled in the school at the same time. These discounts cannot be combined.
Tuitions are raised per year in September.
Children currently enrolled, siblings, and church members will receive priority for fall enrollment. We cannot guarantee your child a space in the school if you fail to register during the appropriate registration time. There are no restrictions of admission on the basis of race, sex, color or national origin. While we make our best effort to honor teacher requests, no guarantee is made with regard to a specific teacher for your child, as we must do our best to balance each classroom with an equal number of boys and girls.
For traffic and safety reasons there is No Parking or Stopping at the curb located by the school office doors.
Use the regularly marked parking stalls in the parking lot.
Thank You for your cooperation in making this a safe school year for everyone.
Peanut/Nut Free Snack Safety List
Thank you for keeping HCLS Nut-Product Free Environment.
The members of Holy Cross Lutheran School are a close community always
willing to help one another. In the interest and care of the
children in our school with severe life-threatening peanut and tree nut
allergies. We are a nut product free school.. Children with air-borne nut
allergies are in danger when they are even near the
allergen. We appreciate your effort in refraining from bringing foods containing
peanut butter, peanuts or nut products to school.
The school is happy to offer a comprehensive list with safe snack items and a
list of what to look for on the labels. These are suggestions to help make snack
time shopping easier. As always, please check the label even if the item is on
the list, as manufacturing processes do change. Thank you for your compassion
and attention. With your help all of our Holy Cross children will be safe.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Montgomery, Director
